Multiple Sclerosis Treatment and Research Center The Multiple Sclerosis Treatment and Research Center at The Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, Ltd. is one of the largest MS clinics in the Midwest. Our Center staff is dedicated to: 1) providing the best possible care to persons with multiple sclerosis, 2) helping in the diagnosis and evaluation of persons suspected of having MS and 3) furthering the treatment and management of persons with MS by participation in research trials of new therapies and procedures. The MS Treatment and Research Center is under the direction of Dr. Gary Birnbaum, who has extensive experience in the care and diagnosis of persons with MS, as well as experience in basic and clinical MS research. Registered Nurse Jane Iverson works closely with Dr. Birnbaum in managing and caring for persons with MS. Also working closely with Dr. Birnbaum are several other Minneapolis Clinic neurologists, whose expertise in evoked response testing, MRI and Neurophysiology support the diagnostic program of the Center. Patients have access to a comprehensive physical therapy department with expertise is assisting with mobility in persons with MS and in aiding in the control of incontinence. Our Back to Fitness Center exercise physiologists are trained in instructing persons with MS to maximize their physical abilities and reduce fatigue. The Center also works closely with physicians and other health professionals involved in the care of an individual with MS to ensure that a complete program of health management is achieved. Our medical staff will provide you with educational materials outlining the latest advances in understanding the MS disease process and current state-of-the art of MS treatments.
