PHYSICAL THERAPY SPECIALTY AREAS AND AREAS OF INTEREST
My background includes a wide variety of physical therapy practice areas. I have worked at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology since 1997 and have experience primarily with back, neck and headache patients. I also see patients with a variety of diagnoses who need strengthening and balance training.
PERSONAL PROFILE
PRACTICE FOCUS
I like to help people to improve their ability to function and enjoy their daily lives. I enjoy teaching people how to use their muscles more effectively and efficiently, in ways that cause less pain. I believe it’s important to empower people with both knowledge and the physical ability to improve their lives. As an example of this, I use biofeedback to retrain muscles to work better and ensure that patients are using the correct muscles when learning exercises. Although exercise is important, I recognize that often people need manual therapy as well in order to achieve their goals. I use a variety of techniques I have learned, including trigger point therapy, myofascial therapy, craniosacral therapy, strain-counterstrain, muscle energy and joint mobilization techniques. I also have training in vestibular rehab for patients with balance and dizziness issues.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
I have volunteered with physical therapy legislative issues, tutoring English, and church and school activities with my children.
HOBBIES
I am married with 3 children. I enjoy activities with my family such as hiking, biking, swimming, ice skating and traveling.
