What is a T.O.V.A.™?
The Test of Variables of Attention (T.O.V.A.™) is a standardized, objective, computerized test of attention for children and adults that assists in the screening, diagnosis and treatment monitoring of attention disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
What happens during a T.O.V.A.™?
The patient is taught how to follow a simple set of directions regarding an item shown on a computer screen and the desired procedure is demonstrated. After the subject demonstrates that s/he can follow these instructions, s/he sits in front of the screen in a quiet room free from distractions, for approximately 25 minutes, responding to items presented visually on the screen.
How should I prepare for a T.O.V.A.™?
To allow for a fair performance of the test session, the patient should get a good night's rest and regular nourishment prior to the appointment.
