Job Placement Assessments

A Job Placement Assessment (JPA) measures a non-injured individual's capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job. A certified specialist spends about 45 minutes administering a defined series of objective body motions to provide specific information on a individual's:

• Lifting, pushing/pulling and carrying activities related to a specific job or activity.
• Cardiovascular responses to physical activities.
• Instructional needs on proper lifting and handling techniques.

Functional Capacity Assessments

The physicians and rehabilitation professionals at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, Ltd. see many patients who have been injured and are temporarily unable to work. Our clinic offers Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) to identify safe levels of physical performance for return-to-work or functional activities.

Using the standardized protocols and procedures of the KEY Method of Functional; Capacity Assessment (FCA), our trained physical therapy and rehabilitation professionals work with patients to identify safe return-to-activity capabilities. In a session that last approximately four hours, the FCA identifies an individual's:

• Strength
• Posture tolerances and endurances
• Work-day capability
• Level of participation (the FCA is designed to tell the healthcare provider if the patient is giving full effort or if they are consciously trying to manipulate the results.)
